Académica Returns to Liga Portugal 2
Académica de Coimbra has officially secured promotion to Liga Portugal 2 for the 2026/27 season, marking a deserved return for one of the most historic clubs in Portuguese football. Founded in 1876 and strongly connected to the University of Coimbra, Académica remains one of the country’s most iconic institutions, known for its identity, tradition, and passionate supporters. After several challenging years, this promotion represents an important milestone in the club’s rebuilding process and long-term sporting project. Throughout the 2025/26 season, “A Briosa” demonstrated consistency, competitiveness, and strong collective organization, earning promotion back to professional football. The achievement reflects not only the work done on the pitch, but also the growing structure being developed behind the scenes. Over the last few years, ScoutDecision has had the privilege of working alongside Académica in the development of its scouting and recruitment processes, supporting the club’s efforts to modernize football operations and improve internal organization.
